Energy Boosting Smoothie Recipes For Your New Week!


Spark up your week with these easy to make pick-me-up smoothies. Get all the energy you can as you gulp down before work or on the go.


You will need a blender or Smoothie maker for these recipes. You can also add a little water if you wish.



Banana Smoothie
Bananas are rich in potassium and carbohydrates that help boost energy and restore the balance of electrolytes in the body. They are the perfect fruits for athletes and active people.

Ingredients
1 large Sweet Banana
1/2 cup of fat free vanilla yoghurt
2 cubes of ice cubes
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
You can add honey, sugar or a sweetener of your choice


How To

Pour the sliced Bananas and yoghurt into a blender. Add the vanilla extract and blend till smooth. Add the sweetener and ice cubes and blend to desired smoothness. Serves 1 person.

Note that you can use any milk of your choice if you are lactose intolerant or just don't like yoghurt. You may opt for soy milk or almond milk .You can also crate your own special recipe to your own taste by adding other ingredients. You could add more ice cubes.



Pineapple Smoothie


Pinapples are rich in manganese which helps to develop strong bones and tissues. Pinapples are also the main source of  bromelain; an enzyme that aids the reduction of inflammation and tumors associated with cancer. It's high vitamin C content also make it a super immune booster against the flu.

Ingredients

10 cubes of Pinapple (it could also be frozen)
1 1/2 cup of almond milk (or any other milk of your choice)
2 ice cubes


How To

Add the slices of pineapple and milk into the blender and blend well. Add the ice cubes last and blend till desired smoothness. Serves 1 person.



Orange Julius



Named after American juice pioneer; Julius Freed, the orange Julius is an easy pick-me-up smoothie you can add to your day. Oranges are of course known for their high vitamin C content.

Ingredients

1 cup of milk (full cream or skimmed)
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
12 tablespoos or 6 ounces of orange concentrate
You can add 2 cups of oranges ( peeled, unseeded and sliced)
1/2 cup of sugar
4 cubes of ice


How To

Blend the milk and vanilla extract first
Add the orange juice concentrate and sliced oranges and continue blending
Add the sugar and ice cubes last and blend to taste.




Warning: Those with kidney problems or gastro esophageal reflux should avoid excessive intake of smoothies or food with high vitamin C content and could opt for Banana Smoothie or green smoothies.
